REGINA (SASKATCHEWAN) – Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced on Wednesday that
nine players were released from Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp on Wednesday, December 16 and
returned to their respective club teams.
The nine players released were: goaltenders Matt Hackett (London, Ont./ Plymouth, OHL) and Olivier Roy
(Causapscal, QC/ Cape Breton, QMJHL), defencemen Tyler Cuma (Bowmanville, Ont./ Ottawa, OHL), Shawn Lalonde
(Orleans, Ont./ Belleville, OHL) and Dylan Olsen (Calgary, Alta./ Minnesota-Duluth, WCHA) and forwards
Philippe Cornet (Rouyn-Noranda, QMJHL), Cody Eakin (Winnipeg, Man./ Swift Current, WHL), Scott Glennie
(Winnipeg, Man./ Brandon, WHL) and Louis Leblanc (Montreal, QC/ Harvard, ECAC).
Wednesday’s player releases brought to an end Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp which started
on December 12 in Regina. Canada’s final roster for the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship has 22
players.
Canada will play its first game of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship on Boxing Day, December 26
versus Latvia, a game that will be broadcast LIVE by TSN/RDS and on The FAN Radio Network (check local
listings).
Canada has medaled at eleven straight IIHF World Junior Championships including gold medal performances in
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, silver medals in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and bronze medals in 2000 and
2001.
